Monitoring Learner Progress Resources

This toolkit seeks to support providers and practitioners who deliver study programmes in the FE sector to improve the way in which they manage the progress of learners. It contains resources aimed at developing targets, tracking, monitoring and reviewing learner progress. The toolkit provides activities, supporting resources, tools and documentation to:

  • Improve provider’s ability to track learner progress with thorough assessment of learner starting points, goal setting, action planning and regular reviews.
  • Improve provider’s capacity to record learner progress and evidence the learner journey.

Monitoring learner progress

Resources include:

  • a useful tool for individual learners to reflect on their own skill development and progress during the learner journey and after their work placement.
  • a resource seeking to support providers and learners to improve the management of learner progress
  • a resource designed to help pinpoint what is required by learners regarding types of support and advice required in relation to personal circumstances to reduce the risk of non-completion.

This is a short PowerPoint presentation which senior leaders and/or managers can use to help within team meetings or CPD as a training resource. It is designed to support staff to recognise the importance of initial assessment, and to consider other types of assessment throughout the study programme.
